Promoting healthy lifestyles among children and adolescents while addressing health inequalities

YEAH! is an EU-funded project tackling the complex challenge of youth health inequalities. By connecting parents, teachers, peers, and healthcare professionals, and addressing multiple behaviors : diet, physical activity, sleep, and screen time. YEAH! develops innovative, evidence-based digital solutions to promote healthier, more equitable lives for children and adolescents across Europe.

Objectives of the YEAH! Project

Empower youth through social interactions:  
train key actors, parents, teachers, educators, healthcare professionals, and peers, to adopt empowering interpersonal approaches.

Target multiple health behaviors: 
foster healthier lifestyles by promoting physical activity, improving diet and sleep quality, and reducing sedentary behaviors, including screen time.

Leverage evidence and co-creation:
develop locally tailored interventions by integrating scientific evidence with insights from end-users and stakeholders.

Maximize scalability and equity:
ensure the intervention reaches a broad population through sustainable, privacy-preserving digital solutions.

Multidisciplinary research at the heart of the YEAH! project

The YEAH! project is built on a multidisciplinary approach, bringing together a top-level consortium with diverse expertise to achieve its objectives:

Intervention development:

Driven by experts in epidemiology, health psychology, and information technology, ensuring a robust and evidence-based design

Implementation:

Led by specialists in public health methodology and sports and physical activity psychology, ensuring the practical delivery of the intervention in real-world settings.

Evaluation:

Conducted by behavioral medicine and public health experts, applying rigorous methods to assess the effectiveness, equity, and sustainability of the intervention.

Additionally, the consortium benefits from the knowledge of specialists in social marketing, economics, geography, psychiatry, and physiology, alongside the active involvement of a youth health promotion association to ensure relevance and impact.
